Just In Time Moving and Delivery Service, Mover in Kenilworth, NJ

This moving company arrived on time; the men worked very hard and took several large items to the dumpster. If they get a star for anything... it's that. However, I feel that I was over charged. The price quoted was $275 for the first three hours and $100 per hour after that. The owner, Haley, was well aware that the job involved stopping at my storage spot, all of *one mile* away. There was no discussion of any travel charge for miles: only the hourly fee. When they arrived, they decided that some of my boxes were too small and they should be repacked into larger boxes. I had bought small and medium packing boxes at Home Depot because the large ones are too heavy for me to manage once full. He said they could provide the larger boxes for me at a cost of $7 each. They were the same boxes Home Depot was selling for $1.10, but I figured a mark up was to be expected. I went along with it. When the job was completed, I figured out that the hourly charge plus the materials should have added up to less than $700. Instead, the final price of $1,171.20! I felt I had no choice but to pay. I admit I am a rather passive person, and I'm sure this showed. I truly believe if my husband could have been there that they would not have charged so much. Haley explained the extra charges as fees for packing, materials and miles. (I moved within the same complex-literally across the street!) None of that had been disclosed to me before that day. It was then that I finally understood his insistence on cash. If I had paid through credit card I would have protested the charges. In an email later I asked if he would provide me with a complete breakdown of the charges and he did not respond. Probably so as not to provide any more evidence for me to use in small claims court! Next time I move I will be smarter and get a complete quote. I also will not use Just in Time Moving! In addition to the cost, one of the workers wrapped an antique dresser in clear packing tape-ruining the finish.

Movers arrived promptly and expedited the work immediately. They were kind enough to move some additional items out of the truck that were not originally requested.
