The person was on time and pleasant. The work was not performed carefully. The weatherstrip was cut about 2 inches short on one side of the door. There was silicone everywhere and I could have placed newspapers if I had known this was going to happen. I was left to clean up myself. The wood caught fire and I asked if he could wash the blackened wood and he said the weatherstrip would cover the black. I would have liked to at least try to wash the black off. Overall, this was not a happy experience for me.

During the phone consultation stage, Arthur brought up choice of material for the post and we thought we'd choose composite over wood for durability. Later, it turned out composite posts were not available anymore in stores, so we decided to go with pressure-treated wood. Assuming 2 hours labor and the need for some digging up of the asphalt and re-cementing it, he gave me a quote for $210. He and his cousin Jamie showed up 10am on Monday with the post. Turned out the post replacement did not need any digging or cementing.
It seemed like a small family unit, and I hope they retain that focus in the future should they diversify. Both Arthur and Jamie were quite responsive, cheerful and worked diligently. Good communication skills -- in standard English in case that's a priority for some. Finished the job within 1.5 hours, so I was actually able to get to my own work. Arthur was the older professional; Jamie was kinda on the spirited side but both men were extremely strong and easy to deal with and didn't toss any unpleasant surprises. Arthur promised to come back at summer's end to do a complimentary stain of the wood of the post after it had had time to settle in the elements for the required break-in period.
