What is RedBeacon?

We're on a multi-year journey to change the way people find and book local services on the Web. Our San Mateo-based company was started to help people find the right local business or professional to handle virtually any local service need. At Redbeacon, you can request a service (e.g., mover, carpet cleaner, photographer, etc.), and local professionals will receive your request and submit price quotes and appointment times. You'll be shown profile information about each service provider, the price they'll charge for the job, their ratings and reviews, and which friends or professional organizations endorse them. When you see an option you like, you can accept the price quote and schedule the appointment online at the touch of a button.


What will you do?


The Redbeacon Office Manager is initially a part-time (~3 days/week) role, but may transition to a full-time role over time as we grow. You will be responsible for managing our downtown San Mateo, CA office. You'll help keep our growing team functioning, including administering hiring, benefits, and payroll. You'll be responsible for bookkeeping, vendor management / bill payments, and employee expense reimbursements. And undoubtedly, there will be many miscellaneous things from stocking office supplies to helping decorate our new office that we'll ask you to help with. What we really want is someone who recognizes that in an internet startup, people wear many hats, and they just help out any way they can. Some specific aspects of the job would include:
  • Work with our payroll and benefits administrator
  • On-board new employees
  • Handle all bookkeeping activities
  • Research office equipment and other purchases
  • Source, manage, and pay vendors
  • Assist in making the office look great and being a fun place to work
  • Keep office well-stocked (food, office supplies, etc.)
  • Occasionally assist with meeting scheduling, answering phone calls, and welcoming visitors

What are we looking for?


The ideal candidate is extremely well-organized, detail oriented, and has a bright can-do attitude. The role is diverse and the candidate should love startup cultures and supporting companies.

Requirements
  • College degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • Previous office administration and management experience with excellent references
  • Friendly and professional phone manner and general ability to communicate effectively with customers, media, and other staff
  • Experience working with payroll and benefits administrators
  • Ability to work independently within a fast-paced, dynamic, deadline-oriented environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Intermediate knowledge of QuickBooks and bookkeeping
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google applications (Gmail, Docs, Calendar)
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with tact and professionalism
  • Occasional availability to work weekends, flexibility to arrive early/stay late when necessary
